Tragic Incident at Derecktor Shipyard
Dania Beach, FL – February 27, 2025 – It is with deep sadness that Derecktor Shipyards confirms a tragic incident that occurred at our Dania Beach facility on February 26, 2025. A subcontractor was found unresponsive in his vehicle on our premises. Our staff immediately employed the use of an AED and then proceeded to execute CPR and made every effort to revive him, but, tragically, he did not survive.
We extend our heartfelt sympathy and deepest condolences to the sub-contractor’s family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time. Our thoughts are with them as they navigate this profound loss.
Cooperation and Ongoing Investigation
Derecktor Shipyards is fully cooperating with local authorities as they conduct their investigation to determine the cause of this tragic event. Out of respect for the privacy of the family and the ongoing investigation, no further details will be released at this time.
