General Yard Information
The main office is open from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm. If you need access to your boat outside these hours, there is a gate on the west side of the building.
We are happy to take messages for all incoming calls at our main office number – 914-698-5020. All messages will be kept at the front desk in the main office, which is open between 8:30 am and 5:00 pm. The name of the vessel should be used as the identifying name so that messages can be routed properly.

All US Postal Service outgoing mail is picked up from the main office at 3:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Postage is available in the office. All packages must be paid by cash or charged to your crew purchase account. DHL Worldwide and UPS is available in the main office.
All incoming mail or packages must have the boat name on the mailing address and will be kept in the main office. Packages sent via UPS, Fed Ex & DHL are received at our Shipping & Receiving office. Derecktor is not responsible for tracking lost packages.
All Captains and crew cars should be parked in the customer parking area near the courtyard or in the parking lot on the roof.
Upon your arrival please contact Peter Manion at 203-918-4672 to arrange for our staff to assist you with your lines.
Electricity, water and daily trash removal are available upon request and will be charged at our published daily rates. Please ask your Project Manager for further information.
Hand tools are personal property of the Derecktor Shipyard employees. Derecktor Shipyards insurance and the State of New York laws do not allow boat owners, crews, or day workers to use any Derecktor Shipyards tools or operate any Derecktor Shipyards machinery, forklifts, scissor lifts, steel staging or mechanical doors. Non-Derecktor employees should not be in work bays, department shops, storage sheds and paint booth areas unless given permission by management. No person should be unaccompanied in any of the work bays or sheds. Inside work areas must be vacated by 4:30 pm daily.
New York State Law mandates a “No Smoking Policy”. This no smoking policy is in effect for all divisions, including the Derecktor main office, stockroom, purchasing, restroom areas, work bays, construction and storage sheds, cafeteria, and boats.
Boat owners and crew are responsible for the correct disposal of all their rubbish, trash, and hazardous waste. Please do not dispose of hazardous waste materials into the harbor, on land or down the drains. Bring all hazardous waste materials to the stockroom and the staff will arrange for proper disposal.
Please check with your Project Manager first if you wish to arrange for an outside contractor. All sub-contractors are required to provide insurance certificates before they start any work in the yard & they are required to check in at the front desk daily.

Overview of Basic Health and Safety Requirements

- Blades on equipment will not be left exposed after use.
- Lockout / Tag-out procedures are in effect when any piece of machinery, heavy equipment or overhead cranes and hoists are not in working order.
- All shop tools, machinery, heavy equipment, overhead cranes, hoists & scissor lifts will only be used/operated by Derecktor Shipyards designated personnel only.
- Derecktor Shipyards does not lend or lease tools, machinery, or heavy equipment.
- Comply with OSHA 1910.1021 (1) (6) through 1910.323.
- Comply with National Electric Code Articles 90 through 820.
- OSHA’s regulations are extensive; our policy is that any electrical work performed at our facility will be first reviewed by the Facilities Manager and performed by a NY licensed electrician.
- You must know where the first aid stations are in the areas that you are working.
- Local emergency telephone numbers must be posted at all telephones.
- 911 Calls only in extreme emergency situations (Dial “POOL-911” on company phones).
- Complying with OSHA 3130 (Bloodbourne Pathogens) where blood or bodily fluids are lost (such as vomit).
- Complying with OSHA 1910-1200.
- All personnel will know where to find needed information on these procedures.
- MSDS information: Located at the Derecktor Shipyards purchasing/stockroom area.
- Labeling Policy: All containers must be labeled as to their contents.
- Company managers, supervisors, foreman and safety officers can advise on any of these policies and procedures.
- Staging practices, housekeeping, and the corporate smoking policy must be adhered to and understood.
