Business hours, call 772-595-9326
After hours, call 772-971-8022
The main office is open from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm Monday through Friday. The billable workday runs Monday through Friday from 7:30am to 4:00pm with an unpaid lunch period between 12:00 and 12:30pm. Two 10-minute breaks, as mandated by law, occur at 10:00am and 2:30pm. Hours worked outside of these hours or on weekends will be billed as overtime at a premium rate.
The primary office telephone number is +1 772-595-9326. The receptionist will take messages for vessels and will hold them for pick up at the front desk. The company assumes no responsibility for any loss arising out of errors or non-receipt of such messages.
The primary facsimile number is +1 772-264-3899. The facsimile machine is located in the main office. The name of the vessel should be used as the identifying name for any incoming fax so that it can be routed properly. Fax messages will be held at the front desk for pick-up.
The yard’s general insurance covers only those items of equipment and property actually owned by the yard. Therefore, the vessel must maintain all insurances in full force and effect while in the yard and underwriters should be contacted prior to the vessel entering the yard to verify coverage. An insurance certificate identifying the yard’s liability and workmen’s compensation policies is available upon request. All sub-contractors are required to provide proof of liability insurance including SRLI, workmen’s compensation and/or USL&H insurance naming Derecktor as an additional insured before they start any work in the yard & they are required to check in at the office on a daily basis.
Certificates of Insurance should be faxed to 772-264-3899 or e-mailed to firstname.lastname@example.org .
All US Postal Service outgoing mail is picked up from the main office at 3:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Postage is available in the office. All packages must be paid by cash or charged to the vessel’s crew purchase account. DHL Worldwide and UPS is available at Receiving in the South Building.
All incoming mail or packages must have the boat name on the mailing address and will be kept in the main office. Packages sent via UPS, FedEx & DHL are received at the Receiving desk. Derecktor is not responsible for tracking lost packages.
The shipping address is:
Derecktor Ft. Pierce LLC
101 Port Avenue
Fort Pierce, Florida 34950 U.S.A.
Please coordinate vessel movements within the marina, and ingress/egress to and from the yard with your PM or the office.
Hand tools are personal property of the Derecktor Shipyard employees. We do not lend tools - Derecktor Shipyard’s insurance and the laws of the State of Florida do not permit boat owners, crews, sub-contractors or day workers to use any Derecktor Shipyards tools or operate any Derecktor Shipyards machinery, forklifts, scissor lifts, steel staging or mechanical doors. Inside work areas must be vacated by 4:00 pm daily unless prior arrangements are made.
Derecktor offers temporary storage in the form of rental 20’ and 40’ containers, arranged through the vessel’s project manager. Rates for storage are on the rate sheet.
Hazardous Waste & Trash / Rubbish Disposal
Boat owners and crew are responsible for the correct disposal of all their rubbish, trash, and hazardous waste. Do not dispose of hazardous waste materials into the harbor, on land or down the drains. Bring all hazardous waste materials to the stockroom and the staff will advise concerning steps for proper disposal. Alert your Project Manager or the Security Guard immediately in the event of a spill.
Derecktor has provided blue collection containers for the safe disposal of all aerosol products in compliance with EPA Regulation 40 CRF 261.20-261.33. Containers are located:
Please see your Project Manager with questions.
Due to environmental regulations Derecktor does not undertake to fuel vessels in the facility. Fuel trucks will be permitted on the premises between the hours of 8:00am and 3:00pm, Monday through Friday, by prior arrangement, as a convenience to the Owner. Fuel must be put on board by an authorized crew member. The Owner is totally and inescapably responsible for any damage or clean up charges that result from an oil spill. The yard reserves the right to levy a surcharge on fuel deliveries to cover the cost of spill equipment and environmental requirements.
Please note: Florida is a zero-discharge state – it is an offense to pump black or grey waste water into Florida waters. Vessels blocked ashore may be plumbed to temporary black and/or grey water containment tanks upon request. Waste-water collected in these tanks will be periodically pumped into a tanker truck for disposal off-site in accordance with City and County ordinances. The vessel is responsible for all costs associated with collection and disposal of waste-water – this cost can be significant and it is suggested that vessels monitor their use of equipment (particularly laundry systems) while ashore.
Day Workers and Outside Contractors
Please check with your Project Manager prior to making arrangements with any outside contractor. All sub-contractors are required to provide proof of liability insurance including SRLI, workmen’s compensation and/or USL&H insurance naming Derecktor as an additional insured before they start any work in the yard & they are required to check in at the office on a daily basis.
Derecktor recognizes that a vessel may require day labor to assist with tasks that typically fall within the scope of work undertaken by the crew. Responsibility for such day workers remains 100% with the vessel and each worker must either lodge proof of liability and medical insurance with the office or be signed on the vessel’s policy as a temporary crew member. Please check with the vessel’s underwriters for specific policies regarding day workers.
Derecktor reserves the right to levy a fee or commission on the invoice of any sub-contractor working on a vessel within the confines of the yard. Such commissions are typically 25% over an invoice of less than $5,000 and 18% over an invoice greater than $5,000. However, Derecktor does recognize that in some cases a vessel has existing relationships or contracts for which a commission or fee is not appropriate. Therefore, a review of all proposed subcontractors is performed prior to the yard period and the billing status of each agreed in advance. Also, the yard typically does not require a fee or commission for diesel services, audio visual or marine electronics services or certain interior outfitting services. Please check with the Project Manager before scheduling with any outside contractor.
Please use the North Gate to enter and leave the yard. Crew cars can be parked near the vessel within reason. Ample parking is available in the lot located across the street. Each vessel is provided two Parking Passes which allow two cars to be parked in the spaces located inside the north fence, vehicles bearing these passes will be permitted access to the working yard on an as-needed basis to load/unload – such access is permitted for 15 minutes only. Drivers entering the working yard must provide the Security Guard with a cell phone number for contact in the event that the vehicle needs to be moved.
