FORT PIERCE, FL – A career in St. Lucie County’s booming marine industry can be quite rewarding and fulfilling at Derecktor Ft. Pierce.
Derecktor is assembling a team of dedicated shipyard workers comprised of local talent for its newly operational megayacht repair and refit facility at the Port of Fort Pierce.
Responsibilities include being part of the crew in charge of operating the world’s largest mobile boat hoist and an opportunity to learn valuable skills from the yacht industry’s best tradespeople.
While a career in the marine industry can be demanding, the payoff is well worth it for those willing to put forth the effort. Derecktor offers employees competitive starting salaries based off experience, as well as medical and dental insurance, matching 401k, paid time off and more.
Derecktor has immediate openings for its haul and launch crew, who will share the great privilege and responsibility of operating the world’s largest mobile boat hoist – a 1,500-ton machine capable of hauling boats up to 250 feet in length out of the water for service. The shipyard is also in need of bottom painters capable of applying protective coatings to yachts, and general yard workers to run heavy equipment and support the operations team.
Derecktor, in partnership with the Economic Development Council of St. Lucie County, Indian River State College and Career Source Research Coast, is planning a two-day career fair where candidates who are interested in these positions can apply in person.
The event takes place from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, July 9 and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, July 10 at Derecktor Ft. Pierce, 101 Port Avenue, Fort Pierce, FL 34950. Attendees will need to provide an up-to-date resume complete with at least three references. Derecktor is a second-chance employer, and all applicants are subject to drug testing prior joining the team.
“If you’re looking for a career in the marine industry and eager for an opportunity to grow with a company poised for success – this is your opportunity,” said Justin Beard, marketing and sales development manager at Derecktor. “Whether you’re a recent high school graduate or have been in the workforce for a few years, we encourage you to stop by the yard and speak with our team to find out Derecktor is the right fit for you.”
