Facilities Electrician - Dania Beach, Florida

Description

The Facilities Electrician is responsible for the installation, troubleshooting and repair of all types of industrial electrical equipment at Derecktor Dania, a megayacht repair and refit shipyard located in Dania Beach, Florida.

Responsibilities

  • Install and repair wiring, electrical fixtures, power equipment, and components of machinery and equipment following electrical code, manuals, specifications, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Install and repair control and distribution apparatus, including motors, relays, switches, thermostats, circuit-breaker panels, transformers, etc.
  • Install and connect power supply wiring, cables, conduit, and electrical apparatus for shipyard and equipment in new and existing facilities following diagrams, schematics, or blueprints.
  • Diagnose and resolve problems in electrical circuits, systems, and equipment using testing instruments and equipment.
  • Test continuity of circuits to ensure compatibility and safety of components using testing instruments.
  • Connection and disconnection of vessel utility, dry HVAC units, shore power pedestals, etc.
  • Perform routine golf cart battery maintenance.
  • Measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble, and install electrical conduit using rulers, measuring devices, hand tools, pipe threader and conduit bender.
  • Supervise and oversee apprentices.
  • Receive and complete work orders.
  • Select material and hardware and make time and materials estimates.
  • Maintain inventory of tools and equipment.
  • Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean.
  • Work with clients to complete projects.
  • Detect needed repairs on buildings, grounds, and equipment following established inspection procedures.
  • Respond to emergency calls as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor(s).

Working Conditions
Continual walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, and lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs. Work in tiring and uncomfortable positions, around electrical power lines, outside and inside. Exposure to Florida weather and high temperatures. Ability to work in all weather conditions. Frequent travel may be required.

Skills
Ability to work unsupervised. Good attendance. Demonstrate positive attitude towards people with whom one works, ability to work cooperatively and willingness to accept instructions and training. Subject to call beyond the regular workday and week when emergency situations arise which require immediate attention. Knowledge of electrical circuits and wiring and operating principles of motors. Knowledge of local electrical code and marine electrical standards. Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and written reference material. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Ability to perform mathematical calculations. Ability to diagnose and resolve problems. Ability to use hand and power tools.

Experience
Journeyman Electrician
10 years of commercial or industrial experience (Preferred)
